Every morning, teachers at Unique High School began their day flipping through registers, calling out names, and recording attendance manually. It seemed ordinary — until the school realized it was losing over 30 minutes of teaching time per class per week, and administrative staff spent hours each Friday consolidating attendance sheets for reports.
Parents often learned of absenteeism weeks later, when it was too late to intervene. Moreover, during sudden weather closures or local disruptions, the school had no efficient way to verify presence or notify families in real time.
Unique’s leadership saw the need for a system that could automate attendance while integrating with academic and communication workflows.
The school partnered with its technology vendor to deploy a biometric attendance system linked to the LucrumAI School Dashboard.
Teachers now accessed attendance summaries directly on classroom tablets, freeing them from manual marking. At the administrative level, the system generated automated monthly reports for performance tracking, fee adjustments, and student punctuality analytics.
Before rollout, all staff underwent a two-week training cycle, focusing on troubleshooting, dashboard usage, and parent communication etiquette. A small pilot group tested the feature with one section of Grade 7 to iron out errors before expanding school wide.
Parental awareness sessions were also held to ensure families understood data privacy, opt-out clauses, and how to use the mobile notifications effectively.
“The efficiency gain was incredible. Teachers can now begin lessons immediately, and parents appreciate the transparency.”
This shift redefined accountability. Students became more punctual, parents more engaged, and teachers more focused on pedagogy rather than paperwork. The attendance analytics also revealed broader behavioural patterns — higher absence rates during exam seasons and Mondays — allowing the school to introduce preventive initiatives and motivational assemblies.
The system now acts as a cornerstone of Unique’s digital campus strategy, with expansion plans to include staff attendance and substitute scheduling in the coming year.
